 Hi, my name is David Alan Walmsley, Sr., Bassist w/30+yrs.exp. Experienced in recording, producing, songwriting and arranging in all styles of music. I was born in Queens, NY, raised in Mount Vernon, NY and lived 8 years in Peekskill, NY. I grew up exposed to all types of music listening to Burt Bacharach, Dionne Warwick, Nina Simone, Peggy Lee, Johnny Mathis and 5th. Dimension lps as a child. In addition, I was exposed to Charlie Parker, Stanley Clarke, Weather Report, Jaco and a host of other jazz artists. As a teen, I began to listen to funk, r&b and pop music. My mom worked in the heart of the South Bronx and being of Jamaican heritage, I listened to and was exposed to Latin, Carribean & Reggae music. I started playing bass at about 12 years old in addition to playing many other instruments. I have played with and for some excellent musicians such as Tony Cintron, who's played for Dave Valentin & Spyro Gyra among others. Phil Hamilton, who's played for Vanessa Williams, Roberta Flack and Luther Vandross. Jorg Krukel, Forest Muther, Marcelo Cardozo, Regis Ferrer, Ron Quailey, Wondress Hutchison, who's sung with Empress, Mantronix, Keith Sweat, Patti Austin, David Foster, Spyro Gyra, Maxi Priest, Shaggy and others. I am also a former pro and semi-pro athlete, once signed to play pro baseball and having played Semi-Pro Tournament Level Softball for aprox. 15 years. I am an avid contemporary/smooth/fusion jazz music collector and own aprox. 700+ cd's. My day job: I work for Nextel. I'm a Facilities Specialist for Nextel's Customer Support Center in Hampton, VA. I've played in many bands playing all styles of music but my style is deeply rooted in Pop, Jazz, Funk, R&B and Latin/Caribbean/Reggae. Bands/Artists I've played for include, Electric Smoke, RYZE, Jon Phelps-Steele, Curtis Hairston, Jigsaww, JPT and Rhythm Magik. I've also played at many well known musical clubs and establishments in NYC, Westchester County(NY), CT, NJ, MA, DE, MD, DC, NC & VA. I am currently playing for The Rhythm Magik Band based in Virginia Beach, VA. While in NY, I played at some of the most well known clubs and concert halls. From 'The Bayou' in Mount Vernon, NY to 'Carnegie Hall' in NYC! I currently play bass for Rhythm Magik.
